You can optionally switch it to happen after recording, or disable it. By default the generation of this file happens while recording. This feature works by generating a new thumbnails file, which sits alongside the recording. The thumbnails can be seen in nextpvr.exe and ui clients by pressing the left or right arrow keys during playback. The thumbnails can be seen in the web player when dragging the timeline.
